Novel coronavirus or Covid-19 is a communicable sickness that is caused by a new virus. The covid-19 disease is a pandemic as stated by the World Health Organization (WHO). It causes respiratory ailment similar to flu. The symptoms of this disease are fever, cough, and in extreme cases difficulty in breathing.

There is a way to protect you from this coronavirus. You must wash your hands frequently with soap or water or use alcohol-based sanitizer (for 20 seconds). You must avoid touching your face, eyes, nose, and mouth without washing your hands.

How Coronavirus Spreads

Coronavirus sickness spreads mainly through contact with an infected person coughing or sneezing. It also transmits when a person touches a surface or objects that have the virus on it and then touches their nose, eyes, or mouth.

People may be unwell with the virus for 1 to 14 days before initial symptoms. The most common symptoms of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) are tiredness, fever, and dry cough. About 80% of people recover from sickness without requiring special treatment.

In rare cases, this disease can be severe and even deadly. Older people and people with other medical conditions like asthma, diabetes, or heart disease may be more exposed to becoming severely ill.

Do the following 5 to Stop Coronavirus:

Wash your hands often

Cough or sneeze using your flexed elbow

Do not touch your face

Keep a safe distance from other persons.

Stay at home.

Protect yourself and help prevent spreading the virus to others by observing the following Dos and Don’ts:

Dos

Wash your hands frequently with soap and water or alcohol-based hand rub for 20 seconds.

While coughing or sneezing, cover your mouth and nose with a throwaway tissue or flexed elbow.

Avoid close contact (1 meter or 3 feet) with people who are sick.

If you feel sick, stay home and self-isolate from others in the household. 

Don’ts

Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unclean hands.

People may need supportive care to help them breathe as there is no specific medicine for this ailment.

Self-Care: Treatments for Covid-19

Stay at home until you’ve recovered if you have mild symptoms. You can ease your symptoms if you:

Take rest and sleep

Keep warm

Drink plenty of liquids

Take a hot shower or use a room humidifier to ease a sore throat and cough.

Medical treatments

If you develop a cough, fever, and have difficulty breathing, seek medical care without any delay. Call ahead and inform your health provider of any recent contact with travelers or recent travel.
