Trump Lashes Out at ‘Traitor’ Marjorie Taylor Greene After Her Explosive New Claims - ABC
ep. Marjorie Taylor Greene says her break with President Donald Trump began long before their public clash over the release of files tied to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein — but the dispute was the final trigger that blew up their relationship.
Trump had initially dismissed calls to release the Epstein documents as a Democratic “hoax,” before eventually signing a bill mandating their disclosure on Nov. 19. Greene, however, joined a bipartisan push demanding full transparency, directly defying the president’s stance.
Her decision drew a fierce backlash. Trump withdrew his endorsement, labeled her a “traitor,” and accused her of betraying the party. Two days later, Greene announced she would resign from Congress in January 2026.
Speaking Sunday, Greene said Trump was “extremely angry” that she signed the discharge petition to force the Epstein files’ release. “Those women deserve everything they’re asking for,” she said of Epstein’s survivors. “He said it was going to hurt people.”
But Greene said their rift had been widening since Trump returned to the White House. She has publicly disagreed with him on several high-profile issues, criticizing the government shutdown and urging Trump to prioritize domestic policy over foreign affairs.
“For an America First president, the number-one focus should have been domestic policy, and it wasn’t,” she said. “Those were my campaign promises.”
Once a prominent MAGA figure, Greene now distances herself from the label. “MAGA is President Trump’s phrase,” she said. “I call myself America First.”
The White House rejected her criticism, insisting Trump “will always put America First” and is “working hard to fulfill the promises he made.”
Greene also claimed Trump fueled death threats against her family, saying one threat to her son used Trump’s nickname for her: “Marjorie ‘Traitor’ Greene.”
In recent weeks, Greene has not been the only Republican targeted by Trump. He has lashed out at Sen. Rand Paul and other GOP lawmakers who have opposed him on shutdown legislation or questioned his hardline policies.
