Trump Official Leaked ‘Nazi’ GOP Chat After Being Left Out of Photo With the President

What do a Nazi meme dump, a Trump rally selfie, and a Republican meltdown have in common? Apparently, everything.

A Trump-appointed State Department official is now at the center of a brutal political implosion inside the GOP’s youngest ranks—allegedly triggered by a petty grudge over being left out of a photo-op with Donald Trump.

Gavin Wax, the former president of the New York Young Republican Club and now chief of staff in the State Department’s Office of Public Diplomacy, is being accused of leaking hundreds of racist, misogynistic, and flat-out vile messages from a private Telegram group chat of “Young Republican” leaders. The leak exposed 251 slurs, including the N-word, F-slur, and straight-up fascist propaganda like “I love Hitler.”

But here’s the twist: Wax wasn’t even in the chat.

According to multiple sources who spoke to The Daily Beast, Wax allegedly got his hands on the logs and leaked them to Politico as payback against Peter Giunta—a fellow Trump loyalist and the former chair of the New York State Young Republicans—after Wax was snubbed from a Trump photo nearly two years ago. Yes, really.

A source close to Giunta said the drama started over “a miscommunication” that left Wax out of the coveted photo with Trump. Wax reportedly blamed Giunta, and ever since, it’s been a slow-burn vendetta.

“It’s just stupidity at this point,” one source said. “It’s a race, a race to see who destroys who first. And it’s just really disgusting.”

The chat messages themselves are disgusting too. Giunta, described in the report as “the most prominent voice” in the group, was reportedly the one who dropped lines like “I love Hitler,” referred to Black people as “the watermelon people,” and told others to “scream the no-no word” if they saw a Black woman piloting their flight.

Giunta, who declined to comment directly, was the first to publicly point the finger at Wax.

“These logs were sourced by way of extortion and provided to Politico by the very same people conspiring against me,” Giunta told the outlet. “What’s most disheartening is that, despite my unwavering support of President Trump since 2016, rouge [sic] members of his administration—including Gavin Wax—have participated in this conspiracy to ruin me publicly simply because I challenged them privately.”

A source close to Giunta claimed the White House confronted Wax three separate times about leaking the logs before the Politico report was published. Wax denied any involvement.

Wax himself hasn’t commented, but those close to him insist he’s being scapegoated because of his feud with Giunta. They say the leak came from multiple sources—not just Wax—and that he’s become the convenient fall guy.

Still, that hasn’t stopped the knives from coming out.

A GOP strategist named Aidan tore into Wax on X (formerly Twitter), saying the White House “has proof that Gavin planted the story” and calling the whole thing “a political hit job.”

“I can’t express how disappointed I am that someone I thought was friendly and loyal did this to our friends and his friends,” he wrote. “And the president. And the country. Not only was it selfish, it was malicious and stupid.”

Even former GOP State Rep. Chris Lonsdale weighed in, saying Wax “should not be trusted in the Administration or Republican Politics.”

Milo Yiannopoulos, far-right commentator and provocateur, added gasoline to the fire, accusing Wax of threatening another Trump official, Michael Bartels, to get access to the chat logs.

“This goes far beyond cowardice. Wax, it appears, worked extensively with hostile media to destroy the reputations of a number of fellow conservatives,” Milo posted. “He was not protected by the White House when the White House had the opportunity to do so.”

Others pushed back.

Raheem Kassam, former Breitbart editor and longtime Steve Bannon ally, defended Wax in a post seen nearly 340,000 times. “It wasn’t Gavin,” he wrote. “I’m not ratting on anyone. But it wasn’t Gavin.”

Still, amid the finger-pointing, it’s clear some Republicans are more enraged about the leak than the horrifying contents of the messages themselves.

When Kansas gubernatorial candidate Vicki Schmidt called on two state Young Republican leaders to resign over their racist comments revealed in the leak, she was viciously attacked online. Aidan, Giunta’s ally, told her: “Have fun being another stupid b**ch that ran for governor and lost.”

The Young Republican National Federation, with 15,000 members nationwide, issued a statement condemning the chat’s contents and calling for resignations. But not everyone in the party agreed.

Enter JD Vance.

The vice president refused to denounce the slurs. Instead, he defended the leakers’ victims.

“I refuse to join the pearl clutching,” Vance wrote on X. “Most of… the stupid things that I did as a teenager and as a young adult, they’re not on the internet.”

Both Giunta and Wax are 31.

Meanwhile, the State Department quietly confirmed this week that it had revoked visas based on statements made in the aftermath of conservative activist Charlie Kirk’s assassination—underscoring the serious fallout of online rhetoric in GOP circles.

What started as a minor snub over a Trump selfie has now blown up into a scorched-earth civil war within the Republican youth movement. The party’s next generation is too busy waging personal vendettas to confront the fact that some of their own were gleefully posting Nazi memes and racist slurs in a private group chat.

As one insider put it: “It’s a race to see who destroys who first.”
