‘All of Them’: Melania Trump Roasted for Forgetting Santa’s Reindeer During Toys for Tots Speech

Melania Trump faced a wave of online mockery this week after stumbling through the names of Santa’s reindeer during a holiday appearance at the Marine Toys for Tots drive in Quantico on Monday.

The first lady was speaking at the annual U.S. Marine Corps Reserve event when she attempted to reference Santa’s famous team but appeared unable to list them all. “Santa’s reindeer — Rudolph, Dasher, Comet, all of them — they’re resting in the North Pole,” she told the audience.

Melania added that the reindeer were conserving their strength for their Christmas Eve flight, but the vague “all of them” phrasing quickly caught viewers’ attention and fueled online criticism.

Several social media users mocked her inability to recall the full list of reindeer. “Never trust a first lady who cannot name all of the reindeer,” one person wrote. Others jokingly suggested fake reindeer names, poking fun at her hesitation.

Another commenter said it was “painful” to watch the speech, adding that Melania “can’t even remember the reindeer’s names.” The moment soon circulated widely across X and Instagram, drawing thousands of reactions.

For context, Santa’s eight original reindeer — excluding Rudolph — were first introduced in the 1823 poem A Visit from St. Nicholas: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, and Blitzen. Their popularity later grew with the 1939 story Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.

Despite the ridicule online, Melania continued her festive message, saying Santa told her the reindeer were “snuggling beneath warm, fluffy blankets.” She added that she watched Santa “gazing out of the window at all of the wonderful American families below.”

The event is part of the Toys for Tots program, a nationwide Marine Corps initiative launched in 1991 to provide holiday gifts to children from economically disadvantaged families. The foundation helps coordinate toy drives, fundraising, and distribution across hundreds of local chapters.

Supporters of the program say the annual event helps bring joy to families in need, and despite the online chatter, Melania’s appearance drew applause from those in attendance.
