Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) didn’t just ignore President Donald Trump’s latest insult — she fired back, turning his remarks into a sharp critique of his own record and behavior.
During a conversation with reporters aboard Air Force One on Monday, Trump mocked both Crockett and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), bragging about his performance on a cognitive test while deriding the lawmakers’ intelligence. “They have Jasmine Crockett, a low IQ person. They have AOC’s low IQ,” Trump said, referring to cognitive exams he claimed to have taken at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
Crockett quickly responded, saying Trump’s repeated fixation on others’ intelligence raises questions about his own. “I’m waiting on a reporter — maybe it’ll be you, Kaitlan — to finally ask him what his IQ actually is,” Crockett said. “He doesn’t even know what a low IQ is, or which scores count as low. And I can guarantee you that whatever test he’s taken recently, his would qualify.”
The Texas Democrat went further, dismissing Trump’s claim to brilliance. “He’s never been known as an Einstein,” she said. “This is not a man who got anywhere on merit. He’s someone who, if not for being born with a silver spoon in his mouth, probably wouldn’t have gotten into any college — unlike me. So, I’m not worried about that.”
Crockett also called attention to what she described as Trump’s ongoing obsession with women of color in Congress. “You have a President of the United States who is consistently obsessed with two women of color serving in the House,” she said. “You’re the President — you have far more power than we do. And yet you still feel threatened. That’s why we continue to see attacks on Black women from this administration. I don’t know what Black woman hurt him in his past, but it’s clearly still affecting him.”
She closed by urging Trump to focus on his responsibilities instead of launching personal attacks. “For the sake of this country — and honestly, for the world — I wish he would focus on his real job and stop worrying about me,” Crockett said. “My constituents will decide whether I’m doing my job well enough. He can’t hire me or fire me, unfortunately for him.”
Crockett’s fiery response flipped Trump’s insult on its head, framing his remarks not as an attack on her intelligence but as evidence of a president more preoccupied with two outspoken women of color in Congress than with governing.Rep.
