Trump Spends Eight Hours on Truth Social, Blending Brags, Grievances, and Election Lies

Donald Trump spent his Wednesday night doing what he does best — flooding social media with a long series of posts filled with boasts, complaints, and false claims about the 2020 election. The 79-year-old president started posting around 4 p.m. Washington time and continued well past midnight, switching between praising himself and attacking his political enemies.
In a string of Truth Social updates, Trump announced that he had personally approved disaster relief for three Republican-leaning states — Missouri, Alaska, and North Dakota. He also reminded followers that he “won” those states in every recent election. “It is my honor to deliver for the Great State of Alaska, which I won BIG in 2016, 2020, and 2024 — ALASKA, I WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!” he wrote in one post. In another, he added, “I won ‘The Show Me State’ three times in 2016, 2020, and 2024, and it is my honor to deliver for these incredible Patriots!”
The tone of his posts made it clear that Trump still treats disaster relief as a prize for loyalty, rather than a federal duty. Reports have also surfaced that his administration is trying to cancel funding for Democrat-led cities and states.
But Trump’s late-night activity wasn’t just about bragging. He also used his social media account to go after his political opponents, including Vice President and Democratic nominee Kamala Harris, and Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker. One post included an AI-generated video mocking Harris, while another blamed Pritzker for a recent shooting in Chicago.
Although he avoided sharing more deepfakes of himself, one of his posts still managed to combine racial stereotypes, false election claims, and a clear misunderstanding of basic math. “Ask former President Barack Hussein Obama whether or not he really believes that in 2020 Joe Biden got 15 million more votes than he did in 2012 (65.9 vs. 81 million),” Trump wrote. “Additionally, ask him why it is that Joe Biden ‘beat’ Obama in every single Swing State with the Black Vote in 2020, even though Black voters hate him, but in no other state? THE 2020 ELECTION WAS AN ILLEGAL SCAM/HOAX THAT THE PEOPLE OF OUR GREAT COUNTRY WILL NEVER FORGET!”

In reality, the 2020 election saw the highest voter turnout in decades. About 66.8% of eligible Americans voted, compared with 61.8% in 2012, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. The voting-age population also increased from roughly 240 million to 257 million over that period. Trump himself received 74.2 million votes in 2020 and 77.3 million in 2024, while Joe Biden earned 81.3 million votes in 2020. Those figures line up with the country’s growth and higher participation, not fraud.
Trump’s claim that “Black voters hate” Biden is also misleading. Exit polls show that Barack Obama won 93% of the Black vote in 2012, while Biden secured 87% in 2020 — a small drop but far from the collapse Trump suggested.
Meanwhile, concerns about Trump’s health continue to circulate. He has recently been seen with swollen ankles and bruising on his hands, and several neurologists have questioned whether his unpredictable behavior and rambling speeches might signal cognitive decline. Earlier this month, however, the White House released a statement from Trump’s doctor claiming he remains in excellent health. The report even stated that his “cardiac age” is “approximately 14 years younger than his chronological age.”
Even with those lingering doubts, Trump’s social media marathon showed once again that he has no plans to slow down. His late-night posting spree was a mix of self-promotion, old grudges, and election denial — a familiar pattern that reminds everyone how deeply he remains fixated on the past.
