Tucker Carlson Claims Trump’s Justice Department May Be Targeting Him

Conservative media personality Tucker Carlson has claimed that the U.S. Department of Justice may be preparing a criminal case against him, alleging that intelligence officials are considering a referral related to his communications with individuals in Iran.

In a video clip posted Saturday on X, the former Fox News host said the CIA could be preparing a criminal referral to the Justice Department over what he described as a “supposed crime.” Carlson alleged that investigators had accessed his text messages and that the inquiry may involve conversations he had with people in Iran before the recent conflict in the region.

Carlson suggested the potential case could involve the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA), a U.S. law requiring individuals acting on behalf of foreign governments or entities in political activities to register with the Justice Department.

“The crime under consideration, apparently, would be the foreign agent act or something like that—acting as an agent of a foreign power,” Carlson said in the video.

However, Carlson did not provide evidence to support the claim. Requests for comment from the Justice Department and CIA have not yet received a response.

Despite the allegations, Carlson said he is not concerned about a possible criminal case, insisting he has not acted on behalf of any foreign government.

“I’m not an agent of a foreign power, and I’ve never taken money from anybody,” Carlson said. “It’s my job to talk to people and try to understand what’s happening around the world.”

Carlson, who hosts “The Tucker Carlson Show” podcast, has recently been critical of former President Donald Trump over U.S. military actions against Iran. In comments to ABC News last month, Carlson described the military campaign as “absolutely disgusting and evil.”

Trump responded to Carlson’s criticism during an interview days later, saying the conservative commentator had “lost his way” and was no longer aligned with the “Make America Great Again” (MAGA) movement.

According to reports from The New York Times, Carlson had also privately expressed opposition to the war during several meetings with Trump at the White House prior to the launch of the military campaign earlier this year.

Carlson has been outspoken about U.S. policy toward Iran in recent months and previously drew attention for a viral interview with Republican Senator Ted Cruz, in which he challenged the senator’s knowledge of Iran while discussing the conflict.

So far, there has been no official confirmation from U.S. authorities that a criminal investigation into Carlson is underway.
