Veteran Threatened to Kill and ‘Resurrect’ Trump Over LGBTQ, Immigration Policies: Feds

A 21-year-old U.S. Air Force veteran from Michigan has been arrested for allegedly threatening to assassinate former President Donald Trump over his administration’s stance on LGBTQ rights and immigration policy, according to federal investigators.
Prosecutors say Joshua Young, of Ishpeming, posted multiple violent threats on social media, including one that read, I am going to kill Trump, raise him from the dead, and kill him again.
Young faces federal charges of threatening to kill or injure the president and transmitting interstate threats. In several online posts, he allegedly called for violence against the Trump administration, writing phrases such as Death to the dictator and Kill the dictator, alongside longer, angry rants explaining his motivations.
According to a federal criminal complaint, Young wrote on Facebook:
The Trump administration will not listen to peaceful protests. They can’t comprehend it with their little rich brain cells. The White House burned down once before—we need to burn it down again. This time with them in it.
In another alleged post, Young added:
Their cries need to be heard all over the world. This is what we do to Nazis. Their reign of terror is over. Death to POTUS. Death to MAGA. #FreeAmerica.
On X (formerly Twitter), he reportedly wrote:
We need to bring back public executions and execute the Trump administration for the world to see. We can’t let that Nazi gain any more power.
Young was taken into custody earlier this month and ordered held without bond by U.S. Magistrate Judge Maarten Vermaat, who cited the weight of evidence and found that Young posed a serious danger to the public.
Each of the felony charges carries a potential sentence of up to five years in federal prison.
According to investigators, Young’s threatening posts appeared on multiple platforms between January and June. Authorities, including the U.S. Secret Service, were alerted in September, and agents visited Young on October 7.
When questioned, Young allegedly told investigators, I don’t like what he’s doing, referring to Trump. He described himself as a gay, non-binary person aligned with the LGBTQ community and said he was angered by Trump-era policies targeting LGBTQ rights.
He also expressed frustration about immigration issues, saying he was saddened by the current situation and that he hurts when others hurt, according to the complaint.
Investigators say Young admitted to operating the accounts linked to the threats and confessed to specifically targeting Trump.
Young served in the U.S. Air Force from August 2022 until his discharge in January 2024. He is currently being held at Marquette County Jail pending further proceedings.
