NewzSquare Desk | June 14, 2025Kyiv, Ukraine – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has issued a stark warning to European leaders, stating that Russia could bring war directly to NATO’s doorstep—and beyond—if the continent turns its back on Ukraine and Moldova.

Speaking ahead of a critical international summit, Zelenskyy emphasized that European security depends on a strong, united stand against Russian aggression. “If Europe abandons Ukraine and Moldova now, it won’t stop the war. It will only bring the war closer—to every European home,” he said.

Zelenskyy’s remarks come amid growing signs of war fatigue among Western allies. Several EU countries are reportedly reconsidering long-term defense commitments, while U.S. aid to Ukraine remains tangled in political gridlock. Moldova, too, has faced increasing pressure from pro-Russian groups aiming to destabilize its pro-European government.

Russia’s Expanding Threat

Zelenskyy warned that Russian President Vladimir Putin is not merely targeting Ukraine but testing the West’s collective resolve. “This is not just about Ukrainian territory. It is about the future of Europe’s democratic order,” he said. The Ukrainian leader pointed to recent Russian military buildups in Belarus and Kaliningrad, as well as cyberattacks on NATO-member infrastructure, as proof of Moscow’s broader ambitions.

Support Ukraine or Face War at Home

The Ukrainian president urged European nations to provide continued military and financial support, calling it a strategic investment in peace. “The cost of supporting Ukraine today is far less than the cost of defending Berlin, Warsaw, or Paris tomorrow,” Zelenskyy stated.

Analysts say the warning is timely, as Russia intensifies operations in eastern Ukraine and increases hybrid threats against Moldova, including disinformation campaigns and economic blackmail.

NATO Leaders Take Note

In response, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg reaffirmed the alliance’s commitment to Ukraine and Moldova. “NATO will not allow Moscow to rewrite the borders of Europe by force,” he said.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen echoed the sentiment, stating that Ukraine’s fight is “our fight,” and the EU’s unity is vital.

As Europe heads into a pivotal summer, Zelenskyy’s message is clear: this is no longer a distant conflict. Abandon Ukraine and Moldova now, and the consequences could be catastrophic.
