Seth Meyers Destroys Trump for Calling Him ‘Deranged’: ‘Families Are Suffering While You Renovate Your Bathroom’

Late-night host Seth Meyers has hit back at Donald Trump after the former president lashed out at him on Truth Social, calling him “the least talented person to ever perform live on television” and a “deranged lunatic.”

Trump’s rant centered on Meyers’ supposed obsession with “electric catapults on aircraft carriers” — a topic Trump himself has brought up repeatedly for years. On Monday night’s episode of NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” the comedian didn’t hold back.

“You can say I’m untalented, you can say I’m deranged,” Meyers said, “but I’m not the one who talks endlessly about catapults on aircraft carriers. You’re the one who talks endlessly about catapults on aircraft carriers!”

Meyers then rolled a montage of Trump’s speeches dating back more than six years — including one clip from 2019 where Trump said the word “catapult” eight times in less than two minutes.

“Until you brought it up, I didn’t even know aircraft carriers had catapults!” Meyers joked. “I’m not the talk-about-catapults guy. Just ask my friends. Oh wait — friends are… how do I describe this to you? They’re people who spend time with you even when you’re not granting them financial or legal favors.”

Over the weekend, Trump accused Meyers of being “100% ANTI-TRUMP,” adding — falsely — that such criticism “is probably illegal.” Meyers responded during his monologue: “You can say whatever you want about me. That’s your First Amendment right — which, by the way, I also have. We all have it, right?”

Later in his “A Closer Look” segment, Meyers mocked Trump’s recent flurry of Truth Social posts about the renovation of the Lincoln Bedroom bathroom at the White House — something Trump has posted about repeatedly, even amid the ongoing government shutdown.

“I don’t want to talk about catapults. I don’t want to talk about bathrooms,” Meyers said. “But that’s what you do to us — you make us talk about what you’re talking about, and then we all start to sound like the crazy ones.”

He ended the segment on a serious note, blasting Trump for ignoring the real issues affecting Americans. “What we should be talking about,” Meyers said, “is the government shutdown you’re not solving or the food assistance you refuse to fund. Working families are struggling while you renovate your bathroom and build your ballroom.”

Meyers then concluded with one final punchline: “And that’s why your approval ratings are in the…” before cutting to a clip of Trump shouting, “Toilet!”
