Jimmy Kimmel didn’t hold back on Wednesday night as he tore into President Donald Trump’s reaction to the GOP’s bruising election losses this week.
Tuesday’s results delivered a string of defeats for Trump-backed candidates across the country, most notably in New York City, where Democratic Socialist Zohran Mamdani defeated former Gov. Andrew Cuomo a candidate Trump publicly endorsed and heavily promoted.
“This was not a good night for the president,” Kimmel said on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. “Everything he touched was a loser.” He added, “Trump hasn’t been this embarrassed since he found out there was a Donald Trump Jr.”
Kimmel then highlighted Trump’s immediate scramble for excuses, pointing to a Truth Social post where Trump claimed Democrats only won because he wasn’t on the ballot and because of the ongoing government shutdown.

“If Republicans had won and he wasn’t on the ballot, would he take credit for that?” Kimmel asked. “Oh yes. He definitely would.”
Kimmel also mocked a dramatic late-night post from Trump reading, “…AND SO IT BEGINS!” a message some interpreted as ominous political foreshadowing.
“That could either be his response to Mamdani winning,” Kimmel joked, “or he just sat down on the toilet.”
The late-night host then turned his attention to MAGA pundits who quickly began claiming widespread voter fraud after the losses.
“As you might have guessed, Republicans are again screaming and crying about election fraud,” Kimmel said. “It’s weird how it’s only fraud when they lose, right? What are the chances?”
Kimmel also addressed Trump’s insistence that Democrats are to blame for the ongoing government shutdown now the longest in U.S. history.
“Trump has been desperately trying to convince anyone who’ll listen that Democrats are responsible for the shutdown,” Kimmel said, before joking that the president is really using the shutdown to stall scrutiny over the Epstein files.
Ultimately, Kimmel said the election results and Trump’s meltdown reveal a familiar pattern:
“When they win — perfect, beautiful election. When they lose fraud, conspiracy, stolen votes. It’s exhausting. But also? It’s starting to get old.”
