Antonio Brown Forced Back to U.S. in Attempted Murder Case

Former NFL star Antonio Brown is now back on U.S. soil and facing serious prison time. According to reporting from the Miami Herald, Brown was extradited from Dubai this week to face an attempted murder with a firearm charge tied to a chaotic altercation at influencer Adin Ross’s high-profile boxing event in Miami last May.

Brown was booked into the Essex County jail in New Jersey on Thursday and appeared before a judge Friday morning. He is expected to be transported to Miami, where prosecutors say he will stand trial.

The arrest warrant, previously obtained by the Washington Post, ordered Brown to post a $10,000 bond and remain under house arrest until trial. Instead of turning himself in, Brown left the country.

Witnesses at the May boxing event say Brown was involved in a fight with multiple people before he allegedly pulled out a gun. Video from that night appears to show Brown holding a firearm as he ran, and gunshots can be heard moments later.

One of the alleged victims, Miami jeweler Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, claims the altercation stemmed from a long-running dispute. Nantambu says Brown borrowed a pendant to wear at a Floyd Mayweather event in Dubai and never returned it. When Nantambu tried to get it back, Brown allegedly accused him of stealing $3 million worth of jewelry, leading to Nantambu being detained for a month in the Middle East before proving his innocence.

Nantambu told investigators that one of the bullets fired during the May incident grazed his neck.

Brown, for his part, claimed on social media that he was the victim that night.

“I was jumped by multiple individuals who tried to steal my jewelry and cause physical harm to me,” he wrote after the event. He added that police only “temporarily detained” him for questioning and that he “went home that night.”

This latest incident adds to a long list of off-field controversies for the former seven-time Pro Bowler. Brown last played in the NFL in 2021 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where his abrupt mid-game exit made headlines. Before that, he spent nine seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers and had short, turbulent stints with the Raiders and Patriots.

If convicted in Miami, Brown could be facing decades behind bars.

More updates are expected as extradition processing and court scheduling continue.
