Trump Drops Bombshell ‘Gold Card’ A Pay-Your-Way Into America Program Set to Bring in Billions

U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday announced the launch of what he is calling the “Trump Gold Card,” a new immigration pathway that will allow qualified applicants to seek fast-track U.S. citizenship beginning Wednesday afternoon.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump unveiled the program with characteristic fanfare. “THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT’S TRUMP GOLD CARD IS HERE TODAY! A direct path to Citizenship for all qualified and vetted people. SO EXCITING!” he wrote. “Our Great American Companies can finally keep their invaluable Talent. Live Site opens in 30 minutes!”

Speaking further about the initiative, Trump described the Gold Card as “somewhat like a green card, but with big advantages.” He said it will allow U.S. companies to sponsor highly skilled graduates to remain in the country rather than return abroad after completing their studies.

“They graduate from college, they have to go back to India or China or France,” Trump said. “The companies will be very happy. I know Apple is going to be happy. Nobody talked to me more about it than Tim Cook. He said it’s a real problem. And it’s not going to be a problem anymore.”

Trump also emphasized the financial windfall he expects the program to bring. “It’ll take in, we think, probably billions of dollars that will go to the Treasury of the United States… Many billions of dollars, even.”

The president has previously floated a Gold Card–style visa program aimed at attracting wealthy or highly skilled foreign nationals to boost American innovation and investment. Earlier proposals referenced steep financial requirements:

• $1 million donation to the U.S. Treasury for individual applicants
• $2 million corporate sponsorship contributions for employer-backed applicants
• $15,000 nonrefundable processing fee

A higher-tier “Platinum Card” was also discussed in prior drafts. That version would allow individuals to spend up to 270 days a year in the U.S. without becoming subject to U.S. taxes on foreign income in exchange for a $5 million payment. It is unclear whether the Platinum tier is included in the current rollout.

Full program details, eligibility criteria, and application procedures have yet to be formally released by the administration.
