President Donald Trump launched a blistering attack on Indiana’s Republican state senators on Friday, accusing them of betraying him and vowing to help remove them from office after they rejected a House-backed redistricting push.

In a fiery Truth Social post, Trump blasted the GOP-controlled chamber for voting against a proposal he strongly supported, calling their defiance “shameful” and singling out Senate President Pro Tempore Rod Bray as a “total loser.”

“Republicans in the Indiana State Senate, who voted against a Majority in the U.S. House of Representatives, should be ashamed of themselves,” Trump wrote. “Headed by a total loser named Rod Bray, every one of these people should be ‘primaried,’ and I will be there to help!”

The president expressed shock that Indiana — a state he won handily in both 2016 and 2024 — was the only one in the country to reject the redistricting push, which he has been aggressively pressuring GOP-led states to adopt ahead of the 2026 midterms.

The failed measure would have redrawn multiple congressional districts mid-decade, a strategy Trump has encouraged nationwide to strengthen Republican chances of keeping the House next year. Indiana’s refusal marks one of Trump’s highest-profile rebukes from his own party since returning to office.

The vote came after months of pressure from the White House and growing tensions within Indiana’s Republican Party. Some lawmakers had privately expressed concerns about legal challenges, voter backlash, and the chaotic fallout seen in states that attempted similar maneuvers.

Political analysts say the backlash highlights a growing fracture within the GOP. Recent polling shows a significant drop in Trump’s “strong approval” among 2024 Trump voters, signaling weakening influence inside his own base.

Bray has not yet responded publicly to Trump’s insult-laden attack, but allies within the state Senate say the chamber acted based on “legal reality, not political intimidation.”

Despite the setback, Trump made clear he intends to escalate the fight. “I will be there,” he wrote, promising to intervene in Indiana primaries — a move that could reshape the state’s political landscape heading into 2026.
