Trump Attacks Late Filmmaker Rob Reiner After Director and Wife Are Found Dead

President Donald Trump on Monday commented on the deaths of legendary filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer, who were found dead Sunday afternoon inside their Brentwood, Los Angeles home.

The deaths immediately drew national attention due to Reiner’s stature in Hollywood and his long history as an outspoken critic of Trump and Republican politics.

Instead of offering a conventional statement of sympathy, Trump used the moment to attack Reiner, accusing him of suffering from what he called “Trump Derangement Syndrome” in a post on his social media platform, Truth Social.

“A very sad thing happened last night in Hollywood,” Trump wrote, calling Reiner “once very talented” but describing him as “tortured and struggling,” and asserting without evidence that Reiner’s political opposition to Trump had defined his later years.

Trump went on to claim that Reiner had been obsessed with him, writing that the filmmaker “drove people CRAZY” with his criticism and that his “paranoia” intensified as Trump’s administration achieved what he described as historic success. Trump ended the post by saying, “May Rob and Michele rest in peace!”

Meanwhile, law enforcement officials say the deaths of Reiner and Singer are being investigated as a homicide. The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed the couple was discovered with stab wounds at their residence.

Police records show that the couple’s 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, was arrested Sunday night and booked early Monday on a felony charge. Authorities have not confirmed whether his arrest is directly connected to the homicide investigation.

The LAPD listed Nick Reiner’s booking description as “gang activity” and set his bail at $4 million, though officials cautioned that details remain limited as the investigation continues.

As the case unfolds, authorities have not released further information about a possible motive or timeline, and no additional suspects have been publicly identified.
