Pennsylvania Democratic group calls Fetterman a ‘traitor to those who elected him

The Monroe County Democratic Party in Pennsylvania on Sunday labeled Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) a “traitor” to Democrats and to his supporters, citing his repeated backing of certain Trump administration policies and Cabinet officials.
“TRAITOR to Democrats. TRAITOR to Pennsylvanians. TRAITOR to those who worked tirelessly to elect him and stood with him,” the county chapter of the Democratic Party wrote in a Sunday post on social platform X.

“‘51st vote,’ my a$$. This FOX pundit is MAGA. Primary him and vote him out in 2028,” they added.
The statement was shared alongside a reposted clip of Fetterman on Fox News, where he discussed whether he would support Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) for a Cabinet position.
“I’m not sure he’s suited for the job, but I did vote for some Cabinet members because, you know, like Marco Rubio, I think he’s done a solid job overall. It wasn’t always controversial to support people from the other party just because of political differences,” the Pennsylvania senator said during an appearance on Fox News Sunday Briefing.
“Right now, our entire party’s been defined by TDS,” he added, referring to “Trump Derangement Syndrome,” a term used by President Trump to criticize those who oppose or frequently challenge his policies.
Fetterman has increasingly stood apart from his party, breaking ranks to support former Sen. Markwayne Mullin’s (R-Okla.) nomination for Homeland Security secretary, after previously joining seven Democratic senators in backing former Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.
He later called for Noem’s removal following criticism of her leadership.
At the same time, Fetterman opposed the Cabinet nominations of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard.
However, he has repeatedly slammed the Democratic party for allegedly succumbing to “TDS” by not backing efforts to secure taxpayer dollars for the White House Ballroom and not supporting the Iran war.
During the Sunday interview, Fetterman says he is aiming to work across party lines.
“We have to find a way to work together, and we can agree on some things, and we’re going to disagree on other things, as I’ve done,” Fetterman said of the Democratic party.
However, Republican leaders, including the president, have noted Fetterman’s willingness to support the GOP’s legislative agenda and have urged him to change party affiliation.
According to reports from The New Republic, the Pennsylvania Democrat was promised a Trump endorsement and “financial windfall” for changing parties.
During an interview, Fox News host Sean Hannity told Fetterman that Trump nudged him to publicly lobby the senator’s switch.
“Your job is to tell him: He’s gonna be run as a Republican, he’s gonna have our full support, more money than he ever dreamed of, and he’s gonna win big,’” Hannity recalled on air.
Despite disagreements, last September Fetterman said he would not switch parties while in office.
